I acquired a small holding in GlobalData Plc recently. They have issued a notice for a General Meeting which requires a vote. So I attempted to do so by logging into www.signalshares.com . This is their registrars platform for which I previously registered. It is also mentioned in the notice of the General Meeting. But I could not do so because they have changed that web site and it no longer accepts my log-in identity information.
So I phoned their help line and was told that there is a new web site called Link Investor Services which I need to register for. Could not do that over the phone because I do not yet know the Investor Code. So they are sending a letter with the required data.
This is not just obstructive but deeply farcical. They changed the platform without notifying me and the issuing company do not seem to have been aware of the change and the need to mention that in the Notice or other investor communications.
This is just another example of the obstruction to voting that is now prevalent. Link did not issue a proxy voting form with the Notice of the General Meeting and required me to use their digital “platform” which is now impossible to log into. How stupid is that!
The phone conversation with the Link support service was also deeply frustrating and wasted 20 minutes of my time. No apology for this stupidity and persistence with asserting I should have known about the change – which I could only have done so if I logged into the old platform recently.
